From time to time people have questions about learning sign
language and how to build a deaf ministry. Two resources available on Amazon.com
are available. The two books are written by the pastors.
 |
This book was written by Rev. Peggy Johnson. Johnson's experience and insight flow from page to
page for readers of all ages. It is truly an inspiring book of how
Johnson is open to God's call to deaf ministry. The book
includes a devotional study guide by Rev. Robert Walker. Walker is a
retired United Methodist minister with Usher's Syndrome. |
 |
A helpful resource for sign language interpreters and
churches beginning a deaf ministry is the book written by Leo Yates,
Jr. This book is a comprehensive overview of the role of the
interpreter. A few of the chapters: Ethical Issues, Intricacies of
Interpreting, Analysis and Application, Weddings & Funerals, and
a Religious Sign Dictionary. |

A common need for new deaf ministries is the services
of a sign language interpreter. The Registry
of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) has a registry listed by city
and state. When one searches its database it is best to search by
state. More names will be listed. Be sure to search both certified
and associate (non-certified) interpreters. |
